Hema Malini Breaks Silence Following Dharmendra’s Passing

Veteran Bollywood actress Hema Malini has spoken openly about the deep emotional pain she experienced after the death of her husband, legendary actor Dharmendra. In a recent interview, she described the loss as one of the most difficult and heartbreaking phases of her life.

Speaking to the Times of India, Hema Malini shared that Dharmendra’s passing came as an “inconsolable shock” after decades of companionship. The 77-year-old actress said the pain of losing a life partner after such a long journey together is impossible to put into words.

She recalled the final weeks leading up to his death, saying the family went through nearly a month of emotional struggle as his health continued to decline. According to her, the hospital days were extremely challenging, with the family constantly trying to remain strong in difficult circumstances.

Hema Malini said the entire family stood together during this time, including their daughters Esha and Ahana, and Dharmendra’s sons Sunny and Bobby. She described how everyone supported each other while hoping for his recovery.

Reflecting on his final days, she shared that Dharmendra had recovered from health issues in the past, which gave the family hope that he would return home once again. She revealed that he spoke normally with family members and even wished her on her birthday on October 16. The family was also preparing to celebrate his 90th birthday on December 8.

“To personally see him sink was very difficult,” she said, adding that such pain is something no one should have to endure.

Despite her grief, Hema Malini announced that she has decided to return to work in the New Year. She explained that resuming her professional commitments was in line with Dharmendra’s wishes and would help her cope with the loss.

She said she would be traveling to Mathura and continuing with performances, shows, and pending work. According to her, staying active and fulfilling her responsibilities is a way to honor Dharmendra’s memory and keep moving forward while carrying his love with her.
