Production house accuses veteran actor of breaching contract and damaging the film’s progress.
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has reportedly filed a $3 million legal notice against veteran actor Paresh Rawal for abruptly walking out of Hera Pheri 3, causing a major disruption in the film’s production.
The notice was served by Kumar’s banner, Cape of Good Films, alleging Rawal violated a formal agreement by exiting the project midway without valid justification. According to insiders, Rawal had participated in script readings and creative sessions, and was paid significantly above industry standards before suddenly backing out.
A source close to the production labeled the move as a “blatant disregard for professional integrity,” stating the exit dealt a serious financial and reputational blow. Promotional campaigns had already begun featuring Rawal alongside Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, aiming to revive the iconic Hera Pheri franchise.
I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER . I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director.

Rawal confirmed his withdrawal on X (formerly Twitter), denying creative disputes but offering no clear explanation. Some reports suggest he simply “didn’t feel like” continuing — a reason producers deemed unacceptable for a high-profile film.
Despite attempts to resolve the issue privately, legal action was pursued after Rawal allegedly ignored multiple communications. Fans, meanwhile, are left disappointed by the fallout, as hopes for a full reunion of the beloved trio dim.
