Traffic Plan for Pakistan and New Zealand’s Cricket Matches
A thorough traffic plan has been released for Islamabad and Rawalpindi as the Pakistani and New Zealand cricket teams get ready to play each other in a highly anticipated series. The games will be played from April 18 to April 30, 2023, with both teams lodging in Islamabad’s Serena Hotel.

A plan for rerouting traffic has been developed to guarantee smooth traffic flow throughout this time. First, the Khayaban-e-Suhrawardy Road will be shut down in front of the Serena main gate. The access to Serena from Globe Chowk will remain available, but traffic will be rerouted to Globe Chowk via the Convention Center.
The FATA lane, which will remain open for both access and exit to Serena Hotel and SBC, is expected to be congested owing to this detour.

Second, Murree Road would be closed between Faizabad and Double Road during the teams’ arrival and departure. Additionally, from 9th Avenue Chowk to Double Road, Stadium Road will be totally closed on both sides throughout the game.
There will also be a number of detours in place for traffic coming from various directions in addition to these closures.
While traffic from Rawalpindi to Islamabad would be detoured from 6th Road Chowk to Saidpur Road, traffic from Islamabad will be detoured from Faizabad to the Expressway. Islamabad’s 9th Avenue traffic will be detoured into IJP Road.

To avoid any inconvenience, commuters and locals are recommended to plan their trips appropriately and to take the other routes. To safeguard everyone’s safety and security, the authorities have also asked the public to heed the traffic police’s instructions and cooperate with the traffic plan.
