The Government of Pakistan has announced the expected dates for Eid-ul-Fitr holidays in 2026, with final confirmation dependent on the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on the evening of March 19, 2026, which marks the 29th of Ramadan, to observe the moon and officially announce the beginning of Shawwal.
If the moon is sighted on March 19 and Ramadan ends after 29 days, Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be observed from March 20 to March 22 (Friday to Sunday).
However, if the moon is not sighted and Ramadan completes 30 days, Shawwal will begin on March 21. In that case, Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to fall from March 21 to March 23 (Saturday to Monday).
According to the 2026 public holidays calendar, the government has tentatively scheduled Eid holidays for March 21, 22, and 23, subject to the official moon sighting announcement. If the moon is sighted earlier, the holidays will shift to March 20 through March 22.
Authorities will confirm the final holiday dates after the official announcement by the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
