According to police officials on Wednesday, Humaira Asghar’s father has declined to accept her remains after a postmortem was completed.

On Monday, the 35-year-old actress was discovered dead in her Defence Phase 6 flat. The body had decayed considerably, investigators said, indicating that she had passed away over a month earlier. Since then, her remains have been stored in a cold storage facility.

Speaking to the media, SSP South Mehroz Ali stated that Humaira Asghar had ceased paying rent in early 2024 after living alone in the flat since 2018. He claimed that she had been living in total seclusion.

Soon after the body was recovered, police got in touch with the family. Officers assert, however, that the father refused to take his daughter’s remains, claiming to have cut off all contact with her.

The family has not gotten in touch with him since, despite their attempts to convince him to visit Karachi.

The flat where her body was found is sealed by a court bailiff. To ascertain the precise cause of death, investigators have recovered data from her cell phone and are awaiting chemical analysis reports.

“We are looking into every possibility, but preliminary findings point to a natural death,” SSP Mehroz Ali continued.

The postmortem examination has been finished, but before drawing any firm conclusions, authorities are awaiting the findings of the chemical study.

After becoming well-known through modelling and her participation in the reality TV program Tamasha, Humaira Asghar had mostly distanced herself from the public in recent years. Her untimely passing and her family’s reaction to it have brought attention to the frequently hidden personal hardships that people in the entertainment business suffer.
