Esther Pérez Ruiz, the lender’s resident representative in Pakistan, told Reuters on Tuesday that an IMF mission will visit Pakistan on November 2, 2023, to conduct an economic review of the $3 billion stand-by arrangement (SBA).
She said, “On November 2, an International Monetary Fund team under Nathan Porter’s leadership will field a mission to Pakistan on the first review under the current Stand-By Arrangement.”

This review is an extension of the nine-month SBA that was granted approval in July. A forward-looking policy anchor for possibly unlocking the remaining bailout, addressing internal and external imbalances, and providing a framework for financial support from multilateral and bilateral partners outside the IMF is anticipated to be provided by next week’s review of the ongoing program.
Notably, in July the lender made available a first tranche of $1.2 billion. The remaining quota could be paid out following the meeting the following week.
