Recent weeks again witnessed a rise in tensions between the two nations, Pakistan and India, which made the international community worried. Both sides have blamed each other for violating the ceasefire and upping the ante along the Line of Control (LoC), virtually dividing the disputed territory of Kashmir. Successive events have led to tension build-up and even generated concerns of an impending conflict in the area.

India has recently accused Pakistan of altering the status of the Kashmir territory “unilaterally and in a provocative manner.” Indians’ criticism has skyrocketed due to this, and they are calling for greater engagement from the Indian government.
Due to the perpetual conflict, the United Nations Security Council UNSC held a behind-door meeting at the beginning of the month. Although no official decision was made during the session, participants expressed their concern regarding the current conflict in the territories of South Asian countries India and Pakistan.
The act of pleading for both countries to seek diplomatic means to resolve the issue has prevailed, leading to the prayers that the two countries will wake up and find themselves at the negotiating table.
However, the official Pakistani government has extended an olive branch to end the situation and start negotiations, but to no avail, as the Indian counterpart has not accepted the offer.
At the same time, the situation along the LoC remains tense, and there can be more incidents of violence that can create a problem for the region and the world.
