The Indian players have come under fire for posting what supporters have dubbed “fake trophy photos” on social media after they refused to collect the official Asia Cup 2025 trophy.

Indian cricket players Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma shared images of themselves with trophies on the internet.

However, at the post-match ceremony, cricket fans quickly pointed out that the squad never received the official Asia Cup silverware.

When the players were not given the real trophy, fans made fun of them and asked what they planned to prove with “manufactured photos.”

India’s historic decision to deny Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi the Asia Cup trophy following their victory against Pakistan is the source of the dispute.

The trophy was removed from the field after the BCCI formally notified the ACC of the rejection. Remaining steadfast, Mohsin Naqvi gave Pakistan’s captain, Salman Ali Agha, the check for second place instead. The winners did not raise a trophy when the closing ceremony came to an end.
