South Africa will be without stand-in captain David Miller and fast bowler Gerald Coetzee for the upcoming limited-overs tour of Pakistan, Cricket South Africa confirmed on Thursday.

Miller, who was set to lead the side in the three-match T20 series starting Tuesday, has been ruled out after suffering a hamstring strain during training. Coetzee will also miss both the T20s and the three ODIs that follow due to a pectoral muscle injury picked up earlier this month during the T20 match against Namibia in Windhoek.

In Miller’s absence, Donovan Ferreira has been named captain for the T20 side. Matthew Breetzke and uncapped batsman Tony de Zorzi have been added to the squad as reinforcements. For the ODI squad, Ottneil Baartman has been called up to replace Coetzee.

Several senior players are being rested after the recently concluded two-test series against Pakistan, including regular T20 captain Aiden Markram, Tristan Stubbs, and fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. ODI captain Temba Bavuma is also not part of the touring squad as he continues recovery from a calf injury ahead of the two-test series in India next month.

The tour includes three T20s followed by three ODIs.
