In Azad Kashmir, rain and snowfall entered their third consecutive day. Snowfall continued in Neelum Valley, Leepa Valley, and other upper areas, while Muzaffarabad experienced intermittent rain since last night. Due to snowfall, several link roads in the upper regions have started to close, and many roads in the Neelum and Leepa valleys are already blocked. Weather officials expect intermittent rain and snowfall to continue throughout the day.
Snowfall was also reported in the Galiyat region of Abbottabad on the first day of the new year. Power supply on the Abbottabad–Murree Road has remained suspended since last night because of slippery road conditions. In Shogran, more than five inches of snow has been recorded, while Kaghan received over two inches of snowfall.
A spokesperson for the Khyber Development Authority advised tourists visiting snowfall-affected areas to take precautionary measures and ensure the use of iron chains on vehicle tyres. Continuous rain and snowfall have further increased the intensity of cold weather across northern regions, prompting authorities to urge the public to remain cautious.
