Internet services across Pakistan are likely to face temporary disruption on January 15, 2026, due to scheduled maintenance work on one of the country’s submarine internet cables.
According to an email sent to customers by Nayatel, an “unavoidable maintenance activity” is planned to begin around 2:00 PM and may last for up to eight hours.
The company warned that the maintenance could result in slow internet speeds nationwide, adding that any inconvenience caused is regretted. Nayatel did not disclose which submarine cable is affected or whether the maintenance is linked to an existing fault.

If disruptions occur, this would mark the second major internet degradation in less than two weeks. On January 1, 2026, users across Pakistan experienced widespread internet outages for more than two days after an issue emerged with one of the country’s upstream connectivity providers.
Pakistan relies heavily on a limited number of submarine cables for international internet traffic, making routine maintenance or technical faults a frequent cause of nationwide slowdowns.
Users have been advised to plan critical online activities accordingly during the expected maintenance
