Internet, WhatsApp, and Instagram to Return to Normal

Pakistan has successfully completed its second social media firewall trial, aiming to regulate online content and enhance national security. The newly installed firewalls by internet service providers allow blocking apps like WhatsApp and Instagram and limit audio and video downloads.

According to sources, the trial temporarily disrupted mobile signals and internet services. This firewall, fitted with deep packet inspection, can identify and block IPs spreading anti-state propaganda. Social media services are expected to return to normal in 2 to 3 days. This firewall trial marks a significant step in regulating online content and securing Pakistan’s digital environment.
