Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has welcomed the new defense agreement signed between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, calling it the beginning of a larger security framework for Muslim countries in West Asia.

Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Pezeshkian said the deal is a positive step toward building peace and stability in the region. He stressed that real security can only come from cooperation, dialogue, and solidarity among neighboring states, not from the use of force.

The Iranian leader also condemned Israel for what he described as repeated violations of Iran’s sovereignty through attacks in Iran, Syria, Yemen, and even Qatar. “We condemn Israel’s criminal attack on Qatar,” he said, adding that Iran’s enemies had failed in their efforts to weaken or divide the Iranian nation.

Pezeshkian declared that despite years of sanctions, assassinations of scientists, and information campaigns, Iran has remained united behind its military and will not bow to external pressures. He promised that the country would emerge stronger from these challenges.

On the nuclear issue, the president reaffirmed Iran’s position that its program is only for peaceful purposes and has never been intended to develop nuclear weapons. “Iran has never tried to make a nuclear bomb and will never do so,” he told the assembly.

He also criticized Britain, France, and Germany, known as the European “Troika,” accusing them of aligning with US sanctions while claiming to support the 2015 nuclear deal.

This was President Pezeshkian’s first address at an international platform since the recent Iran-Israel conflict earlier this year, a confrontation that led to the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian officials.

The president’s remarks underline Iran’s push for greater regional cooperation, particularly with Muslim nations, while strongly opposing Israeli actions and Western policies.
