Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated on Sunday that the Islamic Republic remains committed to a peaceful nuclear program and has no intention of pursuing nuclear weapons. His statement came during a cabinet meeting in Tehran, where he emphasized Iran’s dedication to regional stability and ongoing diplomatic engagements with the United States.

President Pezeshkian stated that Iran’s negotiations with the United States are rooted in a desire for peace, not conflict. Highlighting Iran’s consistent stance, he said the country “has never sought, is not seeking, nor will seek nuclear weapons.” The president underlined that Tehran’s nuclear ambitions are strictly for peaceful purposes and not intended to cause unrest in the Middle East.

With diplomatic efforts underway, Pezeshkian confirmed Iran’s seriousness about reaching a resolution. He made it clear that while Iran is committed to cooperation and dialogue, it will not abandon its right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful use. “We are committed to negotiations and are pursuing an agreement, but we will never give up our right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes,” he affirmed.

The remarks come at a time of renewed international scrutiny over Iran’s nuclear activities. Western powers, particularly those involved in the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), continue to call for transparency and compliance. The JCPOA has faced major challenges since the United States withdrew from the deal in 2018, causing a breakdown in trust and diplomatic progress.

As global focus returns to Iran’s nuclear policy, President Pezeshkian’s statements aim to reassure the international community of Iran’s peaceful intentions and willingness to engage in constructive negotiations.
