Labor Day, May 1, 2024, is a public holiday. Most businesses and schools are closed, and most people have the day off.
All factories, educational institutions, and non-governmental organizations are still shuttered. On Labor Day, laborers are free to work whether or not they are paid more than their regular compensation.
In 1972, Pakistan declared May Day, commonly known as Labour Day, an official holiday. That same year, significant labor reform laws were established. Pakistan has also belonged to the International Labour Organization (ILO) since 1947.

Labor Day parades and processions take place on numerous significant avenues and streets, which are sealed off.
