Islamabad is thinking of revising its master plan to include the GT Road terminus of the projected Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway (KRM). This will be the topic of discussion at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) board meeting.
The KRM, which was not originally included in Islamabad’s master plan, needs to be approved and the city’s layout may change.

The change will probably be sent to the federal cabinet for final approval if the CDA board approves it. The road project is being managed by the National Highway Authority (NHA), following its approval by the National Economic Council’s (Ecnec) Economic Committee in 2022.
The motorway, which is a projected Rs108.41 billion undertaking, is an extension of the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway and intends to link Kharian with Rawalpindi.
