Islamabad United Defeats Multan by 47 Runs for Third Victory

RAWALPINDI – Islamabad United continued their dominant run in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, securing a convincing 47-run victory over Multan Sultans at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

With this win, Islamabad United notched their third consecutive triumph, further strengthening their position at the top of the PSL 10 points table. The defending champions posted a formidable 202/6 on the board before bowling out Multan Sultans for 155 in 18.4 overs.

United Batters Shine as Farhan, Munro and Holder Lead the Charge

After a rain delay pushed the start to 8:45 PM, Islamabad United made the most of the conditions. Sahibzada Farhan led the batting effort with a fluent 53 off 35 balls, smashing seven fours and two sixes. His opening stand with Andries Gous provided a 45-run platform before the latter departed for 9 runs.

Colin Munro powered the middle overs with a blistering 48 off 25, while Haider Ali (33 off 16) and Jason Holder (32* off 14) added valuable late runs, guiding United to a strong total of 202.

Multan Sultans Falter Despite Rizwan’s Effort

In reply, Multan Sultans got off to a shaky start, losing opener Shai Hope in the very first over. Usman Khan and Mohammad Rizwan tried to steady the innings, adding 62 runs together. Usman scored 31 off 20 before falling, while Rizwan top-scored for his side with 38 off 27 balls.

Despite some resistance from Iftikhar Ahmed (32) and Michael Bracewell (16), the Sultans failed to chase the target, eventually getting bundled out for 155.

Jason Holder Stars with the Ball

Jason Holder delivered a match-winning all-round performance, picking up four crucial wickets for Islamabad United. Imad Wasim grabbed two wickets, while Naseem Shah, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Shahzad, and Riley Meredith chipped in with one apiece to wrap up the Sultans’ batting.

PSL 10: Tournament Overview

Islamabad United now leads the six-team PSL 10 standings with three wins in as many games. Multan Sultans, on the other hand, remain winless and are placed fifth after back-to-back losses, including their opening match against Karachi Kings.

The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League began on April 11 and will conclude on May 18, featuring 34 matches across four venues. Rawalpindi will host 11 games, including the first Qualifier, while the final and two Eliminators will be played in Lahore.
