Security forces killed 13 terrorists belonging to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also referred to as Khawarij, during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan, the military’s media wing reported on Wednesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was carried out after receiving confirmed intelligence about the presence of TTP militants in the region. During the raid, troops targeted the hideout and engaged the terrorists, leading to their elimination.

A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was also seized from the site. Officials revealed that the terrorists were involved in several attacks across the district, including a suicide bombing in Daraban in December 2023. They were also linked to kidnappings and targeted killings of civilians and government officials. Security officials described these activities as part of Indian-backed terrorism meant to destabilize Pakistan.

Following the operation, a sanitization drive has been launched in the surrounding areas to ensure no remaining terrorists are hiding nearby. Security forces reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating terrorism from the country and maintaining peace in the region.
