Tensions in an already unstable area have increased after Israel claimed responsibility for an airstrike that killed a top commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Amin Pourjodki, also known as Amin For Judkhi, was reportedly in charge of the IRGC’s Aerospace Force’s second unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) unit when he was killed in a targeted bombing by the Israeli Air Force, according to Israeli media sources that cited the military.
Although the precise location and more operational specifics were not immediately made public, the strike was said to have occurred on Saturday.
Pourjodki was accused by Israeli officials of leading UAV activities that have threatened Israeli interests, characterizing him as a pivotal figure in Iran’s drone development and operations.
An Israeli security officer told local media, “The IDF confirms the elimination of Amin Pourjodki, a senior operative and commander of Iran’s second UAV unit within the Revolutionary Guards’ Aerospace Force.” “He was a legitimate target because of his involvement in organizing drone strikes and providing UAV technology to Iranian proxies throughout the region.”
Iranian authorities have not responded formally, and as of the time this article was filed, Tehran has not confirmed Pourjodki’s death.
