At least six Palestinians were killed and several others wounded after Israeli tank shells hit a school being used as a shelter during a wedding gathering in Gaza City’s Tuffah neighbourhood, according to local sources.

The attack reportedly struck the second floor of the school, where displaced families had gathered for the wedding. The incident comes as international efforts continue, led by the United States, to move forward with a fragile Gaza ceasefire agreed in October. Local officials say the latest strike adds to hundreds of violations recorded since the ceasefire began, highlighting the ongoing risks faced by civilians.

The situation in Gaza remains extremely volatile, with residents continuing to face deadly attacks despite diplomatic engagement aimed at easing hostilities.

Meanwhile, US-led ceasefire talks were held in Miami, where senior American officials met representatives from Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. Discussions focused on advancing the next phase of the truce, including proposals for establishing a Palestinian technocratic committee, forming a foreign-led “Board of Peace,” and deploying an international policing force in Gaza. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stressed that completing the first phase of the ceasefire is critical to unlocking long-term donor support for reconstruction and humanitarian assistance.

On the Israeli side, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly held a limited security consultation to review the second phase of the ceasefire and assess possible scenarios. Despite the ongoing talks, Israeli military operations in Gaza have continued almost without pause.

Shelling and airstrikes were also reported in eastern Khan Younis and southern Gaza City, including areas within the so-called “yellow line,” which are meant to be protected under the ceasefire terms. In addition, naval fire reportedly targeted fishing boats off the Gaza coast, while artillery strikes killed at least three more Palestinians, including a woman, in eastern Khan Younis.

Aid agencies warn that continued military action, combined with Israel’s blockade, is worsening the humanitarian crisis. Restrictions on aid delivery and ongoing attacks have left displaced families without adequate shelter, food, or medical support, deepening civilian suffering across the Gaza Strip.
