IT Ministry High-Speed Internet Services for Tharparkar & Gwadar
ISLAMABAD, January 19, 2023- MOITT has recently approved two projects of Rs. 1 billion for connectivity in Tharparkar and Gawadar.
The Universal Service Fund (USF) board awarded two contracts worth Rs. 1.06 billion to Telenor and Ufone for Balochistan and Sindh’s unserved and underserved populations at Minister IT & Telecom’s request. Federal Minister for IT Syed Amin Ul Haque stated they own Sindh’s cities and villages. These areas are receiving broadband, OFC, and other connection projects without discrimination. Tharparkar’s mobile and high-speed internet project cost around Rs870 million. It will also connect nearly 72,000 village dwellers throughout 10,432 Sq. km.

Haque said that a Rs188.1 million broadband project for 15,000 residents in 19 Gwadar, Balochistan villages had been approved. Distant Balochistan and Sindh communities will benefit from these projects. This connectedness will simplify their daily lives, business, and other necessities. The minister also commended the USF Board of Directors, Chairman Additional Secretary MOITT Mohsin Mushtaq Chandna, and CEO Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary for initiating these projects.
He also mentioned USF’s increasing Connectivity Network’s broadband projects in underserved areas. He stated that GSMA Asia Pacific and ITU commended USF’s structure and project methods. USF CEO Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary updated the board on project progress. The projects would empower 87,266 people, he added. Tharparkar and Gwadar residents in 79 muazas.
