Martial arts legends Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio are back in action together for the first time ever in the newest chapter of the iconic franchise — Karate Kid: Legends — officially released this week and already making global waves.
This exciting reboot introduces a fresh face: Ben Wang as Li Fong, a teenage kung fu prodigy from Beijing who moves to New York City with his mother. Trying to adjust to a new life, Li crosses paths with a retired boxer and pizza shop owner, Victor, and his daughter, Mia — but his real transformation begins when two legendary martial arts masters step in to guide his journey.
For the first time, Chan’s Mr. Han (from the 2010 reboot) and Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso (from the original Karate Kid and Netflix’s Cobra Kai) come together to train the next Karate Kid. The film creatively links both storylines — uniting two generations of fans in one cinematic universe.
Macchio told Reuters, “When they explained how Mr. Miyagi’s legacy connects with Mr. Han’s story — I thought, ‘That’s brilliant.’ Working with Jackie was a no-brainer. And when we saw Ben Wang, we knew we had something special.”
Jackie Chan, reflecting on his long-standing passion for the franchise, added, “I always wanted to be part of The Karate Kid legacy. Now, I finally get to be the mentor — just like Miyagi.”
Ben Wang, stepping into the role with a mix of gratitude and nerves, shared, “It’s surreal. This franchise means so much to people. I’m proud to represent a new generation — and to learn from these legends.”
Directed with heart and high-energy action, Karate Kid: Legends brings back everything fans love: powerful fight scenes, emotional mentorship, and a story of growth, grit, and honor. With stunning choreography, cross-generational appeal, and a heartfelt script, the film isn’t just a reboot — it’s a reinvention.
As Karate Kid: Legends hits theaters worldwide, it marks not only the return of two iconic actors but also the rebirth of one of the most beloved martial arts sagas in cinema history.
