Japan Donate USD 5 Million for Flood Relief in Pakistan
Islamabad: According to news reports, Japan would give Pakistan USD 5 million for the Emergency Flood Relief Program on March 1.

The government will utilise the funding to broaden the project’s initial scope, particularly to support:
- Provision of climate-resilient seeds for growth of staple crops urgently needed
- Women-led businesses to support essential household needs
An agreement was made in this regard between the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Yong Ye, the country director for the Asian Development Bank (ADB). According to the press release, the money is provided through the Emergency Flood Assistance Project (EFAP), which is managed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) (Additional Financing).

The grant, which will be used through third-party organizations and UN-related relief funds, is in addition to the monies Japan has committed for emergency help for flood victims in Sindh and Balochistan.
It’s crucial to remember that a terrible flood in August of last year caused the displacement of close to 30 million people. According to the government’s estimates, this has caused a $30 billion dollar economic loss.
