Jazz has secured 190 MHz of additional spectrum in Pakistan’s latest telecom spectrum auction, with a total investment of $239.375 million, strengthening its position in the country’s digital infrastructure as Pakistan prepares to roll out next-generation connectivity.
The auction was conducted by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, with the acquisition increasing Jazz’s total spectrum holdings from 94.4 MHz to 284.4 MHz.
The newly acquired spectrum spans four key frequency bands, including 50 MHz in the 3500 MHz band, 70 MHz in the 2600 MHz band, 50 MHz in the 2300 MHz band, and 20 MHz in the 700 MHz band. The 700 MHz band is considered particularly valuable for wide-area coverage and is expected to play a key role in expanding connectivity to rural and underserved regions across Pakistan.
Industry data indicate that the average Pakistani mobile user consumed about 8 GB of data in the last fiscal year, significantly lower than the regional average of around 20 GB. Nearly 40 percent of mobile subscribers still lack access to 4G services, while roughly one quarter remain without mobile broadband connectivity.
According to the company, the additional spectrum will help improve network performance and support the expansion of nationwide 4G coverage while enabling the gradual rollout of 5G services in major urban and enterprise markets.
All deployments will be carried out in accordance with the regulatory framework and rollout obligations established by the PTA.
Commenting on the development, Aamir Ibrahim thanked the Government of Pakistan and the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication for conducting the spectrum auction, describing it as an important step toward strengthening Pakistan’s digital future.
He said the new spectrum will help the company expand high-quality 4G connectivity for millions of users while gradually introducing 5G services that deliver meaningful value.
Jazz has invested more than $11 billion in Pakistan’s digital infrastructure over the past three decades. The company is transitioning to a broader digital ecosystem, JazzWorld, which serves more than 100 million customers through connectivity and digital services nationwide.
