KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has called for a nationwide shutter-down strike on April 22 in a powerful show of solidarity with the people of Gaza and to protest ongoing Israeli aggression in Palestine.
During a large-scale Palestine March in Karachi, JI leader Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman outlined the movement’s roadmap and emphasized the importance of public participation in the boycott of foreign products. The call for protest continues to gain momentum as JI plans a series of events across Pakistan in the coming days.
Gaza Marches Planned Across Cities
In the next phase of the campaign, Jamaat-e-Islami announced a Children’s March to further highlight the plight of Palestinian children affected by the conflict. Additionally, a Gaza March in Multan is scheduled for April 18, followed by a major rally in Islamabad on April 20, which is expected to be the largest public gathering in Pakistan’s history, according to JI leadership.
Endorsement from Palestinian Leadership
Hafiz Naeem confirmed that the April 22 strike has been endorsed by Palestinian leaders, and efforts are underway to coordinate the action with various Islamic organizations for maximum impact. The protest aims to be a unified stance of the Muslim Ummah against Israeli actions and U.S. support for Israel.
Karachi to Lead the National Campaign
“Karachi will lead this campaign against U.S. loyalists,” Hafiz Naeem declared, emphasizing that the strike will involve the complete closure of businesses nationwide on April 22. He also revealed that JI is reaching out to Muslim leaders and international human rights groups, signaling the launch of a global resistance movement.
Nationwide Solidarity for Palestine
With the date approaching, political analysts predict a high level of public engagement in this nationwide protest against Israeli violence, as the call resonates strongly with citizens across the country. The strike is expected to not only disrupt daily life but also send a clear message of solidarity with Gaza and condemnation of international complicity.
