PTI leader Asad Qaiser has criticized the recently passed 27th Constitutional Amendment, claiming it has rendered the judiciary ineffective in Pakistan. He made these remarks while speaking to the media, noting that two judges resigned after the amendment’s approval—a move he described as a sign of integrity and protest against the changes.

Qaiser also announced that his party will hold a meeting at 2 pm tomorrow to decide its next steps in dealing with the political and constitutional developments. He confirmed that the PTI had boycotted the amendment’s legislation and pledged that the party’s leadership would soon chart out how to proceed.

On Tuesday, the National Assembly approved the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill with a two-thirds majority, securing 234 votes in favour. Four members voted against the bill. The final version of the bill differed from the version passed by the Senate: four clauses were removed, three were revised, and one new clause was added.

Under the changes, the sitting Chief Justice will continue to be referred to as the Chief Justice of Pakistan. Additionally, the President, Auditor General, and Chief Election Commissioner will now take their oaths before the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
