K-Electric Requests NEPRA to Raise Electricity Prices

K-Electric (KE) has proposed that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) increase the price of electricity by Rs. 0.97 per unit for the month of August.

A notification indicated that KE has requested a monthly fuel adjustment of Rs. 1.76 billion. In this context, the notification states that an August tariff determination hearing would be place on September 29.

The announcement by NEPRA says that two topics will be discussed during the hearing: whether the requested fuel price variation is reasonable and whether the KE has complied with the merit order when dispatching power to its power plants and purchasing power from external sources.
