Karachi is Undergoing a $1 billion Bus Route Project
Bloomberg reports that the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) are investing $1 billion in Karachi to improve public transportation. The initiatives are centered on dedicated-lane bus networks.

In an interview, Sindh’s Minister for Transport and Mass Transit, Syed Awais Qadir Shah, claimed that work on the $550 million Red Line, funded by the Asian Development Bank, will commence this month, while work on the $455 million World Bank-backed design will commence before the end of the year.

In addition, the minister disclosed that 280 custom-built buses powered initially by methane will be included in the ADB’s Red Line project.
The government plans to construct a biogas plant that will manufacture methane from animal feces.
