Kashmiri students studying in various Indian cities are facing increasing levels of hostility and fear as incidents of violence and threats against them rise. In a recent incident in Chandigarh, a Kashmiri student was severely injured when a group of Hindu students broke into his flat at 3 AM and brutally attacked him. The victim described the assault, saying, “They brutally assaulted us, we couldn’t do anything.”
Reports from across India suggest a disturbing trend where Kashmiri students are being targeted based on their identity. Many are being forcibly evicted from their rented accommodations by landlords, leaving them with limited housing options and a growing sense of insecurity. This targeted eviction has become widespread, forcing students into a state of constant fear for their safety and well-being.

Students enrolled in Indian universities from Kashmir have reported that they feel increasingly unsafe due to threats from extremist Hindu organizations. One such group, known as the Hindu Raksha Dal, has issued public ultimatums aimed specifically at Kashmiri Muslims, adding to the anxiety and uncertainty faced by these students.
The rising tensions and hostility are creating a difficult environment for Kashmiri youth seeking education outside their home state. The combination of physical attacks, forced evictions, and threats from extremist groups has led to calls for greater protection and intervention by authorities to ensure the safety of all students, regardless of their background.
