The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced new fuel conservation and governance measures, including a weekly work-from-home policy and a short spring break for educational institutions across the province.

According to a notification issued by the Establishment and Administration Department, all government offices will observe 100 percent work-from-home every Friday for a period of two months or until further notice. The move is part of broader efforts to reduce fuel consumption amid ongoing energy and economic pressures.

The decision follows directives from the provincial leadership aimed at promoting responsible governance while managing rising fuel costs and supply concerns.

In addition to workplace changes, the government has also announced a spring break starting March 24 for all public and private educational institutions in the province. However, the break will not apply to board and university examinations, which will continue as scheduled.

Officials noted that the practical impact of the spring break will be limited, as Friday through Sunday are already observed as holidays under the current measures. As a result, the extended break will effectively add only a few additional days.

These steps reflect a growing shift toward conservation-focused policies as authorities look for ways to manage energy demand without disrupting essential services.
