Previously, Kia launched older generation models of the Sportage and Sorento in Pakistan. Although the Sportage received a facelift, the latest model available in international markets was not introduced locally.
The Kia EV5 is an electric compact crossover SUV with a range of up to 665km.
A highlight of the new range is the Kia EV9, an all-electric SUV designed for the modern, electrified era. The EV9 combines ruggedness with sophistication, offering emission-free, connected, and autonomous mobility while accommodating 6 to 7 passengers.
The EV9 features three rows of seating, accommodating up to seven passengers. The standard model includes seven seats, while the GT-line offers two innovative six-seat options.
Built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV9 maximises the potential of this scalable platform, allowing for a longer wheelbase and larger battery pack while retaining benefits like ultra-fast charging, long driving ranges, and a spacious interior. The SUV comes with a Combined Charging System (CCS) socket on the right-hand side, enabling ultra-fast charging of up to 210 kW.
The multi-input charging system supports both 400V and 800V infrastructure. Thanks to 800-volt ultra-high-speed charging, a 15-minute charge provides up to 249 km for the rear-wheel drive (RWD) version and up to 226 km for the all-wheel drive (AWD) versions. Charging from 10% to 80% takes only 24 minutes, equating to 70 kWh of energy delivered to the battery. The multi-charging system allows drivers to use both 800V ultra-high-speed chargers and 400V fast chargers.
Earlier this year, the Kia EV9 won the ‘World Electric Vehicle’ and the ultimate accolade, ‘World Car of the Year’ at the 2024 World Car Awards during the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS).
With these new cars, Kia is set to make a significant impact on the electric vehicle market in Pakistan.
