North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has assured Chinese President Xi Jinping that Pyongyang will continue to support Beijing in defending its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and development goals.

During their meeting in Beijing on Thursday, Kim stressed that the friendship between the two countries would remain unchanged despite global tensions. “No matter how the international situation evolves, the bond of friendship cannot change,” he said, according to North Korean state media.

Xi described China and North Korea as “good neighbors, good friends, and good comrades” with a shared destiny. Both leaders agreed to boost strategic cooperation, step up communication between senior officials, and work together on regional and international issues.

Kim returned to Pyongyang later that day, with top Chinese officials including Cai Qi and Foreign Minister Wang Yi seeing him off. KCNA hailed the visit as a “historic occasion” that further cemented trust and cooperation between the two nations.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent Kim a congratulatory message on North Korea’s foundation day, vowing to strengthen Moscow’s strategic partnership with Pyongyang. North Korea has already supplied Russia with troops, ammunition, and missiles for its war in Ukraine.
