Pakistani actress and entrepreneur Komal Aziz Khan has spoken about the misconceptions people have about women working in the entertainment industry, revealing that even her own family once expected her to be involved in a scandal, something that never happened.
In an interview on the morning show Subh ka Samaa, Komal said that when she started acting, many people, including her family, assumed she would soon face controversy or get caught up in a romantic affair. “Everyone thought I’d end up in a scandal, but that never happened,” she said, adding that her time in showbiz remained free of such issues.
Komal shared that she never experienced trolling, mistreatment, or professional misconduct during her acting career. She described her journey in showbiz as largely positive and respectful.
Explaining why she chose to step away from acting, Komal said career longevity for women in the entertainment industry is often short. She noted that leading roles are mostly offered to younger actresses, while opportunities decrease as they age. “In this field, women have less time. After a certain age, roles change or stop coming altogether,” she said. However, she clarified that she hasn’t ruled out returning to acting in the future, saying, “It’s not that I’ll never act again, anything can happen.”
Komal, who now runs her own business, said she actually faced more challenges after becoming an entrepreneur than she ever did in showbiz. She revealed that several female employees once left her company without notice and later ran an online campaign against her when she refused to pay pending salaries. “They even made fake accounts on LinkedIn to defame me,” she said, calling it ironic that she faced trolling in business after having a clean image in the entertainment industry.
Discussing the financial side of her career, Komal admitted that showbiz is more profitable than running a business. “I earn more in acting and modeling,” she said. “When I hire models for my brand’s photoshoots, I realize how much they make in a single shoot.”
