KP Amends Development Projects as Usaid Warns of Funds Withdrawal
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) administration has advised amending USAID-funded projects in the province after the agency set September 30 as the deadline to utilize the funds, failing which it will withdraw a $5 million grant USAID provided to KP for these projects.

According to available sources, USAID has committed funds to eight municipal services initiatives. The majority of project directors have apparently assured the provincial administration that they will fully utilize the $18.8 million allocated; nevertheless, USAID has warned that it will withhold a $5 million money if the funds are not utilized by the deadline.
According to sources, the government has proposed modifying the project implementation timetable to include the purchase of additional things, such as vehicles and the GIS system.

According to sources, during a meeting conducted by the KP’s additional chief secretary, the funds will be utilized to purchase new items, including new police vehicles, rather than being refunded.
A provincial government delegation will meet with USAID to review the amended components of the project, according to reliable sources.
