The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has completed the bulletproofing of 112 official vehicles using its own funds, spending a total of Rs1.80 billion on the project. According to sources, the provincial administration allocated this amount to strengthen the security of government officials and law enforcement in sensitive districts.
Out of the completed fleet, 15 vehicles were prepared at a cost of Rs28 million each, while 11 armoured vehicles cost Rs119 million each. Additionally, 48 single-cabin vehicles were bulletproofed at a cost of Rs1.65 million per vehicle. Most of these vehicles are ready for use, while work on the remaining units is still underway.
These vehicles will be provided to districts facing higher security challenges, including Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Upper South Waziristan, Bajaur, and Orakzai. The provincial government has also included funds in the current fiscal year budget for the purchase of more bulletproof vehicles, which may proceed after approval from the new Chief Minister.
Officials stated that the province has financed the project without relying on external support and will continue to meet the security and operational needs of the police through its own resources.
