The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Finance Department has identified a case of alleged financial embezzlement in the KP Forest Department covering the period from 2019 to 2026.
According to officials, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of the Swat Forest Division is accused of withdrawing government funds by inflating the amounts written on official cheques. It was also revealed that the officer allegedly increased his salary figures in official records over time.
The Finance Department stated that a total of Rs. 92.3 million in government funds was transferred into the accused’s personal bank account. So far, Rs. 9.3 million has been recovered and returned to the government treasury, while efforts are underway to recover the remaining amount.
The department has directed the Forest Department to immediately register an FIR and begin legal proceedings against the accused. Authorities have also been instructed to place the individual’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL) and ensure full recovery of the outstanding funds.
