Special Assistant to the Information for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shafi Jan, has said that the provincial government will not support any military operation in the province.
Speaking on the Samaa News programme Nadeem Malik Live, Shafi Jan said decisions about military operations are not within his authority and must be taken at another level. He stressed that the KP government does not believe in decisions made behind closed doors and has maintained a clear stance against any military operation in the province.
He said the provincial government also has reservations about the federal government’s policy on Afghan refugees. According to him, no one should be forced to leave the country, and those who choose to return should be sent back with dignity. He added that Afghan refugees also provide citizenship and political support to certain individuals.
During the programme, Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah also shared his views on the political situation. He said that hurdles to progress often arise from the personal approach of the PTI founder. Referring to political events from the 1990s onwards, he mentioned the Charter of Democracy and decisions taken between 2011 and 2018 that, according to him, led to certain leaders coming into power.
Rana Sanaullah said former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif had always prioritised national interest, including making difficult economic decisions. He accused the PTI founder of refusing to compromise for political stability or dialogue, claiming the party’s objective was to create unrest.
He alleged that the events of May 9 and the long march were part of a plan to disrupt the appointment of the army chief, and claimed that Faiz Hameed played a key role in these developments. Rana Sanaullah described the May 9 incidents as a failed attempt at military insubordination, adding that if further evidence emerges, the matter could be treated as rebellion. He also suggested that, besides the PTI founder, other party members may have been involved.
