Peshawar: According to news reports, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) administration has launched a comprehensive economic program called the “High Impact Economic Plan” to improve the province’s Newly Merged Districts (NMDs).
The specifics indicate that the economic plan gives priority to indigenous sectors in order to optimize their usage. Key targets for the development process have been identified in ten critical sectors: agriculture, industries, forestry and environment, mines and mineral development, energy and power, livestock, commerce, irrigation, technical training and water, sports, tourism and youth affairs, roads & communication, and border economy.

An estimated PKR 142,614 million has been set aside for development projects in these districts, according to the economic plan.
The province government will contribute PKR 139,494 million of this, while donor money will provide an extra PKR 3,120 million. About 96 new and current development projects in the combined districts are included in the plan.
Twenty-three road projects, eleven industries, twelve agriculture, five minerals, eight tourist, sports, and youth affairs, three energy and power, seven livestock, seven forestry and environment, nine water, and eleven border economy projects are among the projects that are expected to be finished.
The economic plan lays out a number of expected results for the combined districts, one of which is the building of 629 kilometers of new roads and 274 kilometers of upgraded highways over the course of the following three years.
