KP Minerals Department Fails to Spend Allocated Uplift Fund
In the first three months of the current fiscal year, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minerals department did not spend a single cent from its development fund, as reported by Peshawar (Q1FY22).
Due to the department’s failure to utilize the given funds, the department’s Annual Development Programme (ADP) initiatives have been postponed.
In the meantime, the finance department has not provided the Rs 46 million budgeted for expanding the mineral testing laboratory’s capabilities or the Rs 25 million allocated for fencing the emerald mine in the Swat district.
According to sources, on the first day of the current fiscal year, KP Finance Minister Taimur Salim Jhagra said that, for the first time in history, the provincial government had released 100 percent of its budget to assist ministries in completing development projects without delay.

In contrast, numerous departments have not yet delivered their cash, causing projects to be delayed and their costs to rise.
According to sources, the provincial administration does not provide funding to the departments despite generating enormous annual revenue through taxes and other ways.
