In the fiscal year 2020-21, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has increased funding for the promotion of Science and Technology by a record-breaking 137 percent.

Minister of Information Technology Atif Khan noted in a statement that the increase in budget from Rs1.1 billion to Rs2.6 billion indicates that the provincial government is giving special attention to this vital business, which represents the province’s future.
In order to develop Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into a digital province, he added that the provincial administration is committed to establishing a knowledge-based economy and company.

Among the measures being taken to promote information technology are citizen facilitation centres in newly merged districts, support for the entrepreneurial ecosystem through the Durshal programme, early childhood programming for children in government schools, boosting industrial competitiveness and innovation, and model science laboratories in merged districts.
