The Lahore High Court has acted decisively in response to the worsening situation. It ordered the Punjabi government to close all schools and institutions on Saturdays to shield pupils from the damaging consequences of the state of persistent pollution.
In addition, the court acknowledged the gravity of the problem and the urgency of prompt action by recommending a two-day remote work schedule for businesses.
Demonstrating a solid resolve to pursue those responsible for the environmental disaster, the court also ordered the dismissal of the Environment Protection Department’s director general.
These actions highlight the urgent need for coordinated efforts to manage and mitigate the impact of pollution on public health and the environment as Lahore struggles with dangerous air quality.
