To reduce smog, the Lahore High Court (LHC) established constraints on large vehicles entering the city. Justice Shahid Karim supervised the hearing, emphasizing that trucks and trailers contribute significantly to the smog problem. He recommended imposing a fine of Rs. 50,000 on cars that create significant amounts of smoke and instructed the Dolphin police to implement more stringent traffic regulations.

Justice Karim denounced the government’s negligence and recommended tighter controls. He suggested a work-from-home policy, Sunday market closures, and more city authorities patrolling the streets at night.
Using China’s achievements in tackling comparable problems, he highlighted that decreasing smog will take time, perhaps up to five years.
