Motorcycle ride-hailing services in Lahore will now require both the rider and the passenger to wear helmets, following a new directive issued by the city’s traffic police.
The order was issued by Athar Waheed, who instructed ride-hailing companies operating bike services to ensure passengers are also provided with helmets during rides.
Under the new rule, companies offering motorcycle ride-hailing services must keep an additional helmet for passengers, making it mandatory for both individuals during double riding.
The CTO emphasized that double riding without helmets is already prohibited and warned that strict action will be taken against riders or companies that fail to comply with the safety requirement.
Ride-hailing companies have been directed to implement the rule immediately and ensure every passenger using bike services is provided with a helmet before the ride begins.
