Lahore to Receive First Artificial Rain After Nov 19
According to news sources, the Punjab government has decided to combat the increasing pollution in Lahore by introducing artificial rain. Professor Munawar Sabir, director of the Centre for Integrated Mountain Research, will manage the PKR 100 million project.
According to the source, Dr. Munawar plans to test the initiative experimentally in the hilly district of Khanspur. The artificial rain project will begin with an area measuring one square kilometer. As a result of the trial’s success, the experiment will be repeated in the provincial capital after November 19, when three days of cloudy weather are forecast.
Dr. Munawar disclosed to the media that he is funding the initial experiment with his own money but that the government will support the effort for Lahore.

It is important to note that artificial rain or cloud seeding is a well-known technique that employs natural clouds and high humidity that have been sprayed with salt solutions. The salts encourage water condensation.
