In the charming hill station of Murree, ongoing monsoon rains have caused a large landslide on Salgran GT Road, injuring Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas and seriously damaging the area.
Heavy downpour caused a significant section of the GT Road near Salgran to be washed away, according to the district administration. As a result, authorities promptly closed the road to all traffic. Until further notice, commuters and visitors are encouraged to use the alternate Murree Expressway.
During the site inspection, Murree DC was hurt.
In a stunning turn of events, another rockfall happened on Thursday as Deputy Commissioner Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi and Murree DPO Asif Amin Awan were visiting the landslide site. The deputy commissioner suffered a fractured foot after being struck by a huge stone.
Luckily, the DPO’s car barely avoided being struck by falling stones.
For treatment, the Murree DC was moved right away to the THQ Hospital. His status is stable, according to officials.
