Largest Fossil Fuel Reserve Discovered in KP
The Pakistan Oil and Gas Development Authority (OGDCL) identified the country’s greatest fossil fuel reserve in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to the most recent media sources (KP). The deposits, which are found close to Lakki Marwat on the Wali exploration block, are the largest in terms of volume among those discovered over the last ten years.

According to sources, the Wali Exploration well consists of three wells: Kawagar, Hungu, and Lockhart, with a total output capacity of 36 MMCFD of gas and 2,950 barrels of oil per day. The following information is disclosed on the exact capacity of each well:
- The Kawagar formation can provide 11 million cubic feet of gas per day and 1,000 barrels of oil per day.
- The Hungu formation can provide 11 million cubic feet of gas per day and 950 barrels of oil per day.
- The Lockhart formation (the first formation to be developed for supply) can produce 14 million cubic feet of gas and 1,000 barrels of oil per day.

Additionally, OGDCL said that it would initiate the construction of a 55-kilometer pipeline to connect freshly discovered deposits to the national supply line. In addition, it was discovered that the region contains significant untapped liquid petroleum gas (LPG) potential.
