Lahore: According to recent reports, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has discovered a massive property transfer scam in Lahore that involves the falsification of official documentation in order to issue certificates of no objection (NOCs). Corrupt officials in the LDA’s town planning and housing directorate sectors are the ones driving this fraud. Furthermore, the public treasury has suffered enormous losses as a result. Owais Mushtaq, the LDA’s Additional Director General (Housing), discovered this scam while frequently reviewing paperwork. This malicious behavior is reported to have burdened property buyers with unclear information regarding outstanding debts, in addition to causing financial losses for LDA. Owais Mushtaq implemented strict measures, ordering town planning directors and housing organizations to provide transparent reports before awarding NOCs.
Additionally, it is stated that individuals who disobey the aforementioned directives will suffer harsh consequences. The chief town planners were also instructed to ensure that all reports made clear the properties’ business character and any outstanding debts. According to a senior LDA officer, this procedure will shield property buyers and the LDA from any losses, provided it is carried out correctly.

In addition, the officer recommended that an internal audit be carried out on NOC cases in order to uncover fraud. Additionally, if required, a thorough audit should be carried out to examine the entire financial impact on LDA. He said that those who commit crimes ought to answer for them.
