The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) recently carried out a massive operation, successfully seizing government land worth billions of rupees in a decisive move against land squatters.
The operation was jointly carried out by local law enforcement and the LDA, and it was primarily directed at the ‘qabza mafia’ encroachments in Johar Town along PIA Road, with the main goal of returning these properties to their original owners.

An LDA representative claimed that the operation was a great success because the crews were able to reclaim nearly 75 kanals of commercial land, which is worth billions of rupees. The mafia had trespassed onto the property and had built stores, auction houses, and other permanent encroachments.
Moazzam Rashid, Director Housing VII, oversaw this operation as Captain R. Shah Mir Iqbal, Additional DG Housing, kept a close eye on everything. The LDA’s determined approach underlines its commitment to protecting public property and citizens’ rights and sends a clear statement against land encroachment.
