A leaked Israeli military database has revealed that by May 2025, only about 8,900 people killed in Gaza were identified as fighters, while more than 53,000 — or 83% — were civilians, according to a report by The Guardian.
The figures suggest Gaza’s civilian death rate is higher than in any modern conflict, surpassing those recorded during tragedies in Rwanda, Srebrenica, and Mariupol.
The data, taken from Israeli military records and never released publicly before, sheds new light on the devastating human cost of Israel’s operations in Gaza.
