According to Ryan Roslansky, the CEO of LinkedIn, the company’s AI-powered writing helper has not taken off as its developers had hoped, despite the fact that AI is still infiltrating many professional domains.

Roslansky openly acknowledged in a Bloomberg interview that LinkedIn’s AI-generated writing recommendations for enhancing user postings “are not as popular as I thought they would be, quite frankly.”

He explained the weak response to the platform’s inherent characteristics, referring to LinkedIn as “your resume online,” which he claimed raises the standard for user-generated content.

“It’s one thing if you’re being called out on TikTok or X,” Roslansky said. “However, it significantly affects your capacity to generate financial opportunities for yourself when you are called out on LinkedIn.”

The remarks revealed a wider reluctance among professionals, many of whom worry that employing AI to create or improve posts could damage their credibility, especially in an industry where reputational risks are significant.

LinkedIn has claimed notable growth in other AI-related measures, despite the disappointing reception to the post-enhancing feature. Over the previous year, Roslansky observed a twentyfold increase in users adding AI capabilities to their profiles and a sixfold increase in job posts requiring AI skills, both of which point to a larger industry move toward digital upskilling.

The CEO also disclosed that he personally uses Microsoft’s Copilot AI technology, especially when speaking with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, his own superior. With a note of humor, he stated, “I always hit the Copilot button before sending him an email to make sure that I sound Satya-smart.”

In recent years, LinkedIn, which has been owned by Microsoft since 2016, has progressively added AI capabilities to its platform with the goal of helping users with networking, job searching, and content production. Even while AI use is on the rise, users are still selective about when and how they use it, particularly when their professional reputation is on the line, as evidenced by the conflicting reactions to some technologies.
